Here’s how to share sensitive information with Asheville Watchdog securely. Be aware that no method is 100 percent secure. In some cases, giving tips to journalists can be risky, and may violate previous legal agreements with your organization, such as a non-disclosure agreement or contract. But sometimes, it can also be an effective and courageous way to call attention to abuses. Nothing will change unless people are willing to speak out.

All of the journalists at Asheville Watchdog are professionals with decades of experience, and all strongly believe in protecting confidential sources to the fullest extent of the law. We are assisted in this by the folks at Lawyers for Reporters, a joint project of the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice and the Press Freedom Defense Fund; by the Raleigh law firm Stevens Martin Vaughn & Tadych PLLC; and by the Duke Law School First Amendment Clinic.
